Benefits
Membership in the Canadian Association for Latin American and Caribbean Studies brings many benefits. Members receive three issues of the Canadian Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CJLACS), three issues of the Newsletter, and the opportunity to attend and present at the CALACS Conferences. The chance to meet other persons involved in research and study of Latin America and the Caribbean is a prime benefit of these conferences.
Members also receive free of charge other publications put out by the Association, such as directories and conference proceedings, which are Published occasionally.
An E-mail distribution list provides all members who have access to e-mail with periodic information and updates of interest to them.
Categories
There are three basic membership categories:
- Regular voting members: Persons involved either in teaching courses relating to Latin American and Caribbean studies or in conducting research on topics involving Latin America and the Caribbean, or other qualified persons such as employees of governmental or non- governmental organizations with an interest in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Student voting members: Persons interested in Latin American and Caribbean studies who are engaged in full-time undergraduate or graduate programmes at recognized colleges or universities.
- Institutional members: Academic, business, governmental, or private institutions interested in Latin America and Caribbean studies.
